Bat Print Studio is an open access printmaking studio offering excellent facilities in a large, beautiful space at the Silk Mill in Frome, Somerset. Bat Print Studio offers full and associate membership for anyone who would like to explore the many forms of printmaking. We offer editioning and collaboration with artists & also produce posters with our Bat Press imprint.

Michael Gill graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 1997 & then trained for his PGCE at Goldsmiths and was awarded AST status in 2003. He has provided training for Art teachers in  at both primary and secondary school level. From 2005- 2020 he was Director of Art at  Merchant Taylors' Girls School in Liverpool, and currently works part time at Bristol Grammar School. He ran the Vitreum Gallery at Merchant Taylors' between 2009 -15 & then The Intensives - collaborations between European artists from 2015-2018.

Steve Clarkson's work explores the effect of light in printing and photography. His still life and portraiture works incorporates themes from chiaroscuro and vanitas.

He studied BA Fine Art at UWIC and continued his studies at Beaux Art Renne, France. Steve is the current chair of the Frome Printmakers group and a Co-Director of the Bat Print Studio and Bat Press.

Steve has published technical articles in Printmaking Today and Art Review. He has completed large commissions with Jaguar Landrover, Oracle Corporation, Costa Coffee and others. He is represented by Brook Gallery in Dorset.

Bat Print Studio  was formed by the coming together of Frome Printmakers and MAS in March 2020.  Named after the French printmaking term Bon A Tirer  = BAT  - the good to pull print. Both studios have combined resources to create this wonderful environment to print and create.
